Pensacola Charter Fishing Serves as Official Boat for ABC's Good Morning America
Local Pensacola Charter Fishing Service hosts Good Morning America's Sam Champion for reporting on the recent Gulf oil spill. Reel N Counters, a charter service based out of Pensacola, Florida is feeling the impacts of the spill.
PENSACOLA, FL, June 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Pensacola Charter Fishing outfit 'Reel N Counters' serves as main charter service for Sam Champion of ABC's 'Good Morning America'. Champion has made three trips aboard Reel N Counters to report on the impacts of the oil spill and the effects on the Gulf Coast.
On April 20, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon semi-submersible Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU) exploded and caught fire, sinking the rig and causing a massive oil leak. It is not yet clear how much oil is being leaked into the Gulf.
Local tourism and industry has suffered as a result. "We are basically sitting and waiting. Our beaches are still fine at the moment, but we're not sure how much the oil will really affect our business this year" says Jeff Beard, captain of Reel N Counters, the local Pensacola charter fishing operation. "In the meantime, we're happy to offer our boat to help the media cover the events so far. We're honored to have been chosen to participate" says Beard.
The spill continues to affect the Pensacola charter fishing industry as well as local tourism and businesses as efforts to cap the well have been unsuccessful so far.
