The Desmond Clark Celebrity Bass Tournament to Benefit 88 Wayz Youth Organization, Inc.

LAKELAND, FL, May 28, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On June 12th, 2010, Chicago Bears own Desmond Clark will host his first annual "Desmond Clark Celebrity Bass Tournament". This inaugural tournament will be held at Stratton State Park in Morris, IL.

Anglers, sponsors, and supporters from around the Chicago region will join forces with Desmond Clark and many other professional athletes from the NFL to support the 88 Wayz Youth Organization, Inc. "We're proud and excited to have this year's tournament in the Chicago area", states Clark. "It's a fun tournament that allows fishermen to team up and fish with celebrities both local and from other sports for a great cause".

Registrations are now open and are limited to a 75 boat field. Entry fee is $150 per boat with a prize payout of $10,000 (based on full field). Gates open for check in/registration at 4:30am. To regulate and administer the bass tournament, organizers partnered with Angler's Dream (www.anglers-dream.com) to manage all fishing tournament rules and regulations.

The First Annual Bass Tournament is an important way for Desmond to showcase the great services 88 Wayz offers the community of Lakeland. Cynthania Clark, Executive Director of 88 Wayz states, "The goal for us this year is to reach out to our communities and show the benefits of our programs. We're making progress daily and look forward to continued support from our sponsors and alliances".

About 88Wayz
In April 2008, 88 Wayz was founded as a private, not- for-profit 501(c) 3 organization by Desmond Clark. Mr. Clark is a native of Lakeland, Florida and a graduate from Kathleen High School. In 1995, Mr. Clark attended Wake Forest University and was drafted by the NFL in 1999 by the Denver Broncos. Mr. Clark began providing football camps in 2002 to low income children with hopes of giving back, but also to show young people that they can do anything they put their minds to. Mr. Clark's collaborative partnerships have lead to many events throughout the year that have supported over one thousand youth. In the last three years Mr. Clark has provided football cleats to six hundred youth and he continues to find ways to support the youth.

Since then, over 3000 youth from Polk County have benefitted from 88 Wayz. Their mission is to enhance the educational, spiritual, physical, mental, political, social, and community growth of today's youth; while assisting these youth in realizing their dreams and reaching their full potential by mentoring, motivating, and developing the confidence needed to achieve and become productive adults.
