Janie Parker Petty has guided saltwater fishing trips on the Lower Laguna Madre shallows for over 29 years

LAGUNA VISTA, TX, November 24, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Janie Parker Petty, Fishing Guide and Owner of Fishing with the Pettys, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in sport fishing.

Ms. Petty and her husband are both captains and have customers from all over the world. They are committed to giving their clients the best overall fishing experience they can. She considers everyone she takes on the trips to be friends. They handle all levels of experience from beginner to expert and mainly concentrate on bay fishing rather than rivers or canals. Before they became guides in 1980, they made a living as commercial fishermen. Born and raised in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, they both have a deep love and respect for the bay that has become the center of their life's work. Mr. Petty spent most of his youth tagging along with the 'old timers' while learning more about the bay than anyone she knows while Ms. Petty grew up fishing with her father in the surf and off-shore. When she met her husband, he introduced her to a whole new world of fishing in the shallow water where the big fish are found.

Together, Ms. Petty and her husband each captain an 18-foot scooter made especially for stalking trout and redfish in the amazingly clear skinny water they call "home." Fishing out of Laguna Vista, Texas, they enjoy the advantage of beginning their trip on the west side of the bay and returning to a private marina. The cleaning table is large enough to accommodate their clients and their catch. The Lower Laguna Madre is the saltiest bay in the world that sustains marine life.

Ms. Petty is also the captain of the volunteer fire department for Laguna Vista and handles emergency calls.
